Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready announced the addition of Ashley Scott as director of government and community affairs. In this role, Scott will coordinate legislative efforts with state policymakers, facilitate agency rule promulgation and represent the Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) across the state by working with local business and community leaders to support the mission of OID.
Previously, Scott worked as the legislative liaison for the Oklahoma State Department of Health, where she was responsible for the advancement of their annual legislative agenda, development of agency rules, and coordinating policy initiatives with key public health stakeholders. Prior to that, she worked under Speaker Charles McCall at the Oklahoma House of Representatives and former Speaker Jeff Hickman as legislative coordinator and appointments director.
Born and raised in Choctaw, Okla., Scott graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in English. She will begin her new role June 18, 2020.
In addition, Mulready announced Erin Wainner has been named assistant commissioner for licensing services. Since joining OID in October 2006, Wainner has held several roles and is currently the supervisor for continuing education.
In this new position, she will oversee the bail bonds, licensing and education, and regulated industry services divisions. Wainner graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resource Management. She will transition to this new role immediately.
