Due to the partial government shut down that went into effect at 12:01 am ET on Dec. 21, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said it will not issue any new contracts for flood insurance under the National Flood Insurance Program during its lapse in authority. But after heavy criticism from industry members, who expressed concern over scheduled closings that could be delayed or canceled because of the policy, the agency reversed course a day later.
