First American Financial Corp., a global provider of title insurance, settlement services and risk solutions for real estate transactions, announced today that the company has been named to the 2016 Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list, which is compiled by Great Place to Work, a global authority on high-trust, high-performance workplace cultures. It is the first time First American has appeared on the list.
“We’re proud to join this list of distinguished companies, but we’re most proud of our people. The integrity, commitment and teamwork they display day after day makes First American a special place to work,” First American Financial Corp. CEO Dennis Gilmore said “We focus on putting our people first because it’s the right thing to do. It’s what we believe as a company, and as individuals. When you have people focused on others – on fellow employees, our customers, people in their communities – you win.”
First American was selected among hundreds of companies vying for a place on the list this year. Applicant companies must participate in an employee survey and respond to an in-depth questionnaire about their programs and company practices. Great Place to Work then evaluates each application using its unique methodology based on five dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.
“This year’s 100 best workplaces show – again -- that trust fuels financial performance,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “Great workplaces have significantly less turnover, outperform peers in the stock market and enjoy high levels of collaboration, communication and trust—crucial ingredients to innovation. The 100 best are setting the standard for all businesses.”
First American has earned recognition as a “best place to work” 36 times in publications across the United States since 2012, and earned a spot on the Fortune’s 10 Best Workplaces in Insurance list in 2015. Internationally, the company’s Canadian subsidiary was named a 2015 Best Workplace in Canada by Great Place to Work.
