FirstMerit Corp. appointed Mark DuHamel as executive vice president and deputy chief financial officer. He has served as the company’s treasurer since joining FirstMerit in 1996.
His responsibilities will include oversight of FirstMerit’s accounting and finance functions, investor relations, strategic planning, corporate development and capital planning. He will work closely with Terrance Bichsel, senior executive vice president and chief financial and administrative officer, in leading these functions as part of the company’s ongoing succession planning process.
“Mark has distinguished himself in his stewardship of FirstMerit’s balance sheet and I am pleased to expand his role in helping guide the future of our company,” Chairman, President and CEO Paul Greig said. “With his two decades of leadership at FirstMerit, Mark is uniquely qualified to fill this new management position.”
DuHamel has 32 years of banking and financial industry experience. Prior to joining FirstMerit, he served in a variety of positions at First NH Bank, Sendero Corp. and First Vermont Bank. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Physiology and MBA in Finance from Michigan State University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He resides in Stow, Ohio.
