Stevens County implemented eRecording of documents through Simplifile, an eRecording service, offering customers a faster and more efficient recording method online.
With eRecording available, customers such as title companies, banks, attorneys will have the ability to submit documents including mortgages, deeds of trust, full reconveyances, notices, lis pendens and affidavits to Stevens County online, avoiding postage fees and mailing delays.
“We decided to start eRecording to better serve the public, all of the banks, and recording companies,” Stevens County Recording Coordinator Fastina “Frosty” Clinton said. “My customers will receive the recorded document instantly, instead of waiting for two months to get the original back. I’m hoping most of the recording companies will do electronic recording.”
In minutes, customers can scan or upload documents and submit them through Simplifile’s secure, web-based service. The documents are then received, reviewed, stamped, recorded and returned back to the submitter from the county.
“Simplifile has been fantastic. They are very helpful and easy to work with. We are loving this,” Clinton said.
Increased document security and fewer payment errors are also some of the benefits of eRecording, as recording fees and payments also can be processed securely through Simplifile via Automated Clearing House.
Stevens County is the 20th county in the state of Washington to adopt Simplifile’s e-recording service.
