Clinton County, N.Y., and Washington County, Ind., adopted e-recording of documents with Simplifile. Instead of having to send documents by mail, runner, courier service or travel to the clerk’s office, customers such as title companies, banks, attorneys and other document submitters can now log in to Simplifile’s secure, web-based service, scan, upload and send documents directly to the clerk’s office for recording.
“E-recording speeds up the entire document recording process and makes everything run more smoothly,” said Paul Clifford, president of Simplifile. “Customers no longer have to rely on the mail or dive to county to record their documents. Giving customers this option to record mortgages electronically and other types of land and property-related documents brings so many benefits to these counties and improves the level of service they can provide their customers.”
The recorder’s office reviews, stamps, records and returns the documents for recording electronically and quickly submit them to county for recording.
“Clinton County is very pleased to be performing e-filing with Simplifile as our past experiences with them with mail-in recordings presented no issues,” said Clinton County Clerk John Zurlo. “We will accept all documents for e-recording that we accepted prior to e-recording.”
