New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo ended the state disaster emergency on June 24, 2021, which ended the executive order allowing for the use of remote notarization in the state.
In announcing the end of the state of emergency, Cuomo said federal CDC guidance will remain in effect, including masks for unvaccinated individuals, as well as all riders on public transit and in certain settings, such as health care, nursing homes, correctional facilities, and homeless shelters.
The New York Department of State posted an update on its website noting that the executive order authorizing remote notarization is no longer active. Notary publics can no longer perform notary services remotely.
Before Cuomo’s announcement, Executive Order No. 202.110 had been extended until July 5, 2021.
