The Kentucky Department of Insurance reminded the insurance industry that it is subject to the mandate in the governor’s Executive Order 2020-968 that all professional services and other office-based businesses mandate all employees that are able to work from home do so and close their businesses to the public when possible.
The department stated, “The insurance industry is subject to the mandate in Executive Order 2020-968. Paragraph Eight of the Order reads, ‘All professional services and other office-based businesses must mandate that all employees who are able to work from home do so, and close their businesses to the public when possible. Any office that remains open must ensure that no more than 33 percent of employees are physically present in the office any given day.’
“For purposes of the executive order, there is no distinction drawn between essential and non-essential businesses,” the department continued. “This is a mandate and not a recommendation.”
The executive order was issued on Nov. 18 and went into effect on Nov. 20, 2020 at 5 pm and will remain in effect until Dec. 13 at 11:59.
