After property was foreclosed upon in 2003, the owner transferred her right of redemption to another, who then redeemed the property and became the owner. When a second mortgagee sought to foreclose based on a mortgage to the first owner years later, the new owner interceded in the foreclosure action. The case eventually went before the Court of Appeals of Kansas, who had to determine whether the assignment of a right of redemption without an accompanying deed of conveyance transfer ownership of the property?
