Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced that Jillian Froment, director of the Ohio Department of Insurance, has resigned her position to pursue other opportunities. Froment joined the department in 2011 and has served as director since 2017.
“As director of the Ohio Department of Insurance, Jillian has been an advocate for Ohio’s consumers as well as promoting fair competition in Ohio’s insurance marketplace. I thank her for her service to the people of Ohio,” DeWine stated.
Tynesia Dorsey will serve as interim director. Dorsey has worked at the department for more than 20 years, many of them as chief administrative officer and director of Consumer Advocacy.
Dorsey has more than 25 years of public service. She joined the department in November 1998 as a personnel officer and moved into the human resources administrator position in May 2007. She was named assistant director of human resources in January 2008. As head of human resources, Dorsey planned and oversaw such activities as personnel issues, benefits, payroll, labor relations, management of the Equal Employment Opportunity and Americans with Disability Act, and employee trainings.
Dorsey actively is involved with several task forces and working groups formed by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. She is also an active member of the Labor Relations Advisory Council and the National Public Employer Labor Relations Association.
Prior to joining the department, Dorsey was a personnel officer at the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections.
