Research from several sources indicates that title insurance companies that managed to stabilize in 2011 will be faced with additional pressure next year as they continue to encounter volatilities in the markets affecting housing. And while many uncertainties exist on what those harsh realities will be, there is a substantial amount of data available to forecasters to offer title agents and underwriters an economic outlook and detailed view of what to expect in 2012.
CoreLogic’s chief economist, Dr. Mark Fleming, along with Tara Bleakley, product manager at CoreLogic, will be presenting an economic outlook for the title insurance industry in a Webinar on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 2-3:00 p.m. ET. The Webinar, Forecasting 2012, is sponsored by CoreLogic and is the fourth presentation in The Title Report’s Business Building Webinar Series. Title agents, underwriters and industry professionals tied to that market are encouraged to join Fleming and Bleakley for their forecasting presentations, in which they will offer insight into what the coming year holds for the real estate market, and more specifically, title insurance and settlement services professionals.
“The 2012 calendar year promises to be an interesting and potentially volatile one for the housing industry and financial sector. The implementation of new and planned regulations, a Presidential election, continued impacts from foreign markets, and a host of other factors will all be in play. Nevertheless, there are clearly both macro and micro trends that can be isolated and examined to help plan for and support business decisions that help companies remain competitive,” Fleming said.
He added that whether anticipating volumes, comparing competing ventures and geographies, helping to communicate expectations to clients, or any number of other ways, title companies and all businesses can clearly benefit from looking more closely at information and analytics in their strategic and tactical planning processes.
“Sources studying the title insurance industry indicate that while much has stabilized, the outlook could turn negative if companies begin suffering severe capital deterioration as was the case in 2008,” said Chris Crowell, editor of The Title Report and moderator for the Webinar. “The best way to prepare for 2012 and plan business moves strategically is to become knowledgeable on what to expect in the marketplace. I highly urge title professionals to register for this event, as it will help them position their businesses for continued success.”
