In order to combat HAMP mortgage modification scams, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program formed a task force to investigate these scams and provide education programs to vulnerable homeowners.
